Bio:

Dr. Sunghoon Ma is currently the head of the Medicine Discovery and Development (MDD) department at GC Biopharma, a position he has held since 2025. The MDD department focuses on accelerating the acquisition of substances across various modalities, including small molecule, mRNA, LNP, and antibody, while enhancing platform development. Before this role, he served as the head of research and early development (RED) in 2024. Prior to his tenure at GC Biopharma, he worked at Exelixis starting in 2002, where he conducted research efforts aimed at the synthesis and optimization of small molecule leads in various therapeutic areas including kinase, NHR, and GPCR. He earned his Ph.D. from Purdue University and completed his postdoctoral research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
